THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT YOUR BRAIN

The Centrifuge Brain Projectif these were real, i would never go on most of them but, that would be one hell of an amusement park! good lord those are crazy concepts

Facts you should know about Indian Railways

  •
  •  The first Railway Station in India was/is Byculla.... the other two, VT and Thana, were Rly Terminii!
  • The (famous) original Deccan Queen (Bby - Pune) - so dear to NDA blokes, with its famous 'stuffed ommelette' -that had wooden coaches, was constructed such that it had one set of wheels between adjacent bogies! Hence the bogies could only be seperated at a proper Rly Wksp;
  • Sadly, the original DQ was written off after smashing into a stationery Goods Train at Byculla, sometime in mid-60s;
  • The Dep-Arr schedule, from both ends, of the DQ has remained the same since the mid-50s - office-goers from Pune, having employment at Mumbai, used to catch the DQ at Pune at 0729 hrs, to reach Mumbai at 1020hrs and cab it to resp offices.....return journey started at 1710 hrs reaching Pune at 2015 hrs. I believe special permission - to arr late and leave early - was/is given by the Mah Govt for these people!
  • DG had 5 halts going down to Mumbai - the third, at Khandala rly stn, next after Lonavala, was to "test-the-brakes", before the descent down the ghats; there was yet another very brief halt, half-way down the ghats, at 'Monkey Point' (no rly stn), to 'break-the-momentum' - and just 3 going back to Pune;
  • With the end-of-term Military Specials running - starting with the first leaving on Sat evng after the PoP....till the last one on Tues morn for the Bby cadets - from Kirkee to various far-off destinations....I used to bunk-off from NDA, on Sun morn, taking 2-3 friends whose MSps were on Mon morn or later, down to Bby for 'sight-seeing', and which included buffet lunch at the 'Taj', sponsored by my dear father, and be back at NDA by the Sun evening DQ, having duly covered-up the absence with some friends remaining at the NDA, awaiting their dep MSp....under the loomimng threat of facing 'Restrictions' next Term, if caught! Was fun!
  • The Electric engine of the DQ was titled "Duke of Wellington", in 'em days.......
